New NSW battery incentives have been available since 1st November 2024.
Homes and businesses with rooftop solar will soon be eligible for incentives under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) to install residential battery storage and connect to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). These incentives are designed to help solar users maximise self-consumption, lower electricity bills, and enhance energy independence.
Expanding battery storage across New South Wales not only improves grid reliability and stability but also reduces dependence on fossil fuels during peak demand. This initiative supports the state’s goal to cut emissions by 70% by 2035 and reach net zero by 2050.
Eligible homeowners and businesses can access valuable incentives to enhance their solar energy systems:
Receive between $1,600 and $2,400 off the upfront cost of installing a battery, depending on the battery size and existing solar setup.
Earn an additional $250 to $400 for connecting your battery to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). This incentive can be claimed twice, with a minimum three-year interval between claims.
These incentives help reduce initial costs while boosting long-term energy savings and grid support.
If your home or business doesn’t yet have solar, incentives can be applied as part of the quote for a new solar and battery system installation. Approved suppliers typically offer the installation incentive as an upfront discount, reducing your initial investment.
With a variety of suppliers offering different products, services, and incentive packages, you have the flexibility to compare and choose the solution that best suits your needs.
